World Hepatitis Day

29/07/2021

Our incredible peers have scaled their harm reduction initiatives. Outreach Hepatitis C testing will now be offered to people who are not in treatment with the GDAS.

Thanks to partnerships with local hostels, private rooms have been secured where our Peer Team can perform tests on a routine basis, and medication can be brought to the people where they are.

On World Hepatitis Day we spoke with Outreach Peer Kimberley about stigma, peer involvement and the projects’ aims.

GDAS Health Promotion Worker Georgia has been passionately coordinating the initiative and shared the problems they hope to solve and the importance of partnership working…

Did you know?

  • Hep C can be treated in just 8-12 weeks
  • The medication has very few side effects
  • 19 out of 20 people are cured
  • Testing is painless and done within minutes

Our Powys team walked from Newtown to Montgomery to raise awareness of Hep C. They performed 25 BBV tests along their route to show just how easy it is to get tested!
