Area(s): Isle of Anglesey, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, and Wrexham.

We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to improve their lives. Drug and alcohol use can lead people into the criminal justice system, and we understand that many simply need a helping hand and a chance to live better.

91% of people engaged with Dechrau Newydd said they felt more in control of their own life and a better sense of purpose.

Who do we help?

This project covers all 6 counties of North Wales and supports people in the criminal justice system. We engage with people to help them to;

  • Reduce offending
  • Improve health and social well-being
  • Make sustainable lifestyle changes

We work closely with the community to ensure transfer of care from prison services, into community treatment and wider recovery support.

Dechrau Newydd offers Opiate Substitute Therapy (Methadone/Buprenorphine) for 12 weeks after release from prison. Rapid prescribing is also accessible to anyone sentenced to a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement (DRR). The project offers:

  • Dedicated assessment and interventions
  • Care coordination
  • Recovery care planning
  • Harm reduction services
  • Group activities and mutual aid support to increase health and well-being
