Knowing what to do in an Overdose
One of the first thoughts you might have when you discover a loved ones’ drug use is of them causing themselves serious harm.
If you do find your loved one in serious physical danger and under the influence of drugs, the following steps will help.
If they are unconscious
- Phone an ambulance straight away
- Put them in the recovery position (on their side with one knee bent)
If they are conscious but very drowsy
- Phone an ambulance straight away
- Remain calm and reassure them
- Try to find out what they have taken
- Try to keep them awake, and put them in the recovery position
